The Internet Of Things(IoT)

I am a DevOps learner.
Introduction
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a Technology that has been with humans for years now. It is transforming human lives by making their work fast and efficient. It connects with multiple devices and then collects the data from the array of devices to analyze and act upon the user instructions. With the world moving forward the IoT is evolving rapidly and businesses have understood its importance and have started to adopt its various applications.
What is IoT?
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a Technology which is a group of devices that are embedded with some sensors and actuators which have a processing ability like software and other technology to collect and exchange data among themselves or with any system over the network. Then the data is used to make decisions or it can be used by devices to respond to users accordingly. The actuators get data and are then instructed to perform certain actions like turning lights on, managing home temperature etc.
Why IoT?
Those who have heard the term IoT for the first time may have some interest in this question or may find the question relevant but those who know it may find the question funny. Let may explain why ?. Just stay put wherever you might be while reading this blog and try to look around, you may find at least one device that uses IoT it may be a smartphone, smartwatch, headphones or smart home appliances. we are surrounded by lots of devices which use IoT that make our work easier and faster. Most of the device at present either comes with built-in wifi or Bluetooth. Our most of work depends on these IoT devices. That's the reason why they are so necessary. Even smart cities are built using IoT.
Benefits of IoT
Healthcare Industry:- Here it is used to track medical equipment like wheelchairs, oxygen pumps and nebulizers and to even monitor a patient's health.
Smart Home:- The IoT-based smart home typically works via an internet-connected hub that controls all the different devices. A mobile app, in turn, controls the hub. To perform most of the work automatically.
IT Industry:- Most IT companies are engaging in this paradigm to optimize their workflow and increase productivity.
What are IoT technologies?
Technologies used in IoT systems may include:
Edge computing
Edge computing refers to the technology used to make smart devices do more than just send or receive data to their IoT platform. It increases the computing power at the edges of an IoT network, reducing communication latency and improving response time.
Cloud computing
Cloud technology is used for remote data storage and IoT device management – making the data accessible to multiple devices in the network.
Machine learning
Machine learning refers to the software and algorithms used to process data and make real-time decisions based on that data. These machine-learning algorithms can be deployed in the cloud or at the edge.
Conclusion
In the end, IoT is beneficial for both individuals and companies to get their work optimized and productive at the same time. It is a rapidly growing technology that is transforming the way we live and work. Finally, the IoT has a vast range of applications across various industries, from healthcare to retail to manufacturing.
Short story time: Do you know how I got introduced to IoT? let's go back in time. I was in 2nd year of my college when our college got selected for state level government project where they made teams to participate in the project. Luckily I got selected for the project or more like my friend suggested my name to the coordinator. And then they told us to build an IoT-based project that can help with current issues going on in state. That was the first time I learned what IoT is. All though the project didn't go as expected still it was a fun experience. Please like if you found the blog helpful.
